LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH OCTOBER 2021 HIGHLIGHTS During October 2021, LFJ's month-long annual campaign this year placed a spotlight on Children and Youth with Lupus. With an average onset of age 22 and up to 20% of persons being diagnosed as children, the LFJ sought to raise awareness about the particular needs of this special group, with an emphasis on reaching a Youth audience. Thanks to your support, LAM 2021 was a great success! Read our Lupus Awareness Month Re-cap and check out links to events you missed!

Thank you to the Canadian Women's Club
It was all smiles behind the masks on September 23, 2021, when Representatives of the Canadian Women's Club, Mrs Kathryn Villeneuve, President, Karen E Smith, Director of Outreach, and Mrs Rose Tavares-Finson, Vice-President, paid a visit to the Lupus Foundation of Jamaica (LFJ) Learning & Help Centre, where they presented LFJ with a very timely gift of a laptop computer. This much-needed gift was greatly appreciated and just in time - allowing for remote work during the lock down and managing the many online events of Lupus Awareness Month. President Dr Desiree Tulloch-Reid and Board Member Mr Algy O'Neill were on site to receive the gift and presented CWC members with LFJ branded facemasks and a Thank You card. Thank you, CWC, from all of us!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: FAREWELL
ROCHELLE!
Today we say thanks and farewell to Rochelle Thomas, a valued volunteer who made a big impact in a short time! Rochelle came onboard as a volunteer in 2020 when LFJ was reeling from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, struggling to maintain its operations and services and stay connected with members and volunteers. Rochelle's initiatives and innovations in the Social Media space along with her team spirit inspired volunteers and engaged members and new connections helping expand our reach through the historic 2020 Lupus Awareness Month and subsequent 555 Give a Care Gift fundraising effort. Rochelle further contributed to strengthening our online presence through producing and streaming our now popular monthly online series Ask The Expert Live on Facebook and Youtube, until September 2021. "I have enjoyed working with you, the Hosts, and the monthly guests, and have also learned a lot about Lupus by being a part of this series." she says. Rochelle departs to pursue further studies abroad, and we are proud and happy for her . Please join us in saying a big thank you to Rochelle and wishing her all the best in her future endeavors!
