The Lupus Foundation of Jamaica is thrilled to announce the successful completion of its inaugural ‘Scramble for Lupus’ Golf Tournament, held on March 2, 2025, at the picturesque Caymanas Golf Club in St. Catherine, Jamaica. This landmark event brought together a diverse group of golfers, non-golfers, supporters, and volunteers, all united by the common cause of raising vital awareness and funds to support individuals living with lupus, also known as Lupus Warriors.

The tournament, which was a first for the Foundation, saw participation from seasoned golfers as well as newcomers to the sport. Notably, Gary ‘Butch’ Henrickson, Head of Continental Bakery, a lupus warrior himself, was a key participant in the event. His presence underscored the powerful message of resilience and determination, while also exemplifying the strong community spirit that this event sought to foster. His brand, National, was proudly aligned with the event, showing true corporate commitment to supporting the cause.

High Participation & Friendly Competition: The ‘Scramble for Lupus’ witnessed an impressive turnout, with both experienced and new participants enjoying the day’s competition. Golfers took to the course for a spirited round of golf, while non-golfers engaged in an exciting putting contest. Prizes were awarded for various achievements, ensuring that there was fun for everyone, regardless of their golfing skill level. Inspiring Session: The day also featured a very brief thought-provoking speech from Dr. Desiree Tulloch-Reid, a renowned rheumatologist and President of the Lupus Foundation of Jamaica. This was an insightful presentation on lupus and the Foundation's efforts to educate and support those affected by the disease. Ms. Tishauna Mullings, Executive Director of the Lupus Foundation, led a highly engaging interactive Q&A session, sparking meaningful discussions about the importance of lupus awareness and community support.
